What's Hot
Terrific and challenging gameplay, excellent game design and music, you have the ability to create and share levels with other players.
What's Not
Game Sharing takes a little longer on the PSP, some levels are ludicrously difficult, design tool isn't nearly as nice as the one for Nintendo DS.

He left his mark on Xbox Live Arcade and the Nintendo DS, and now the nameless ninja strikes the Sony PSP with N+, Atari's latest budget-priced offering. In the game, you control the nimble black figure as he jumps from maze to maze, activating doors while avoiding dangers and stopping time from running out. Like the previous versions, this edition of N+ is a whole lot of fun.

Part of the challenge comes from avoiding threats. Not only must you contend with mines along the walls, ceiling and floors, but you also have to avoid sniper rifles, automated drones, missile launchers and other dangers. The time ticks away on you as you move, so you must collect gold icons throughout each stage to keep it ticking. Fortunately, you cannot run out of lives.

Some levels are ridiculously hard, but you can play some out of sequence if one bugs you. In addition, you have design tools to make your own creations. Although the design system isn't as hands-on as the one featured in the Nintendo DS version, it still lets you place objects, twists and turns with ease. Better still, you can share them with others through AdHoc downloading, while also receiving your friends' levels to try out. It's slower than expected, but works fine. Some Infrastructure support would've been nice, but this is suitable enough, especially for a $20 game. In addition, if you prefer something more competitive, you can take on others through co-op and competitive multiplayer, racing against others to see who can finish a level first.

In terms of presentation, N+ delivers. Although the music gets repetitive, it sounds groovy as you move through each level. The visuals aren't exactly revolutionary, but Silverburch Studios and Metanet have done a great job porting the game from its freeware build to Sony's handheld. Your ninja character moves fluidly, whether he slides down a wall or explodes into chunks after hitting a mine. We miss the dual-screen display in the Nintendo DS version, but the single screen view works fine.

N+ is wicked fun and a steal at $19.99. Figuring out how to solve each puzzle, creating your own and sharing them with others makes this an essential addition to your PSP library. Buy it, and be kind to your ninja.
