Spider-Man 2 Review

Follows the movie's storyline.
Has some of the worst 3-D stages EVER.
...Continued From Page 1 The game also possesses full-on 3D sequences where Spidey swings through the city to make his way to a particular goal. Well, here's something even LESS playable, as you find yourself even more limited in the direction where you're swinging and the manipulation of something as simple as wall climbing. This is a deeply flawed part of the game, and it's even crashed on me a couple of times during these sequences; a big negative if you're making your way to the later parts of the game.
The sounds are pretty good, and, believe it or not, the graphics are actually pretty well done, despite some flaws and slowdown during the 3D sequences. So the presentation isn't at fault here. No, what's really missing is any real reason to continue swinging with the web-slinger. Even if you manage to figure out the gameplay enough to where you're having fun with it (and if you do find it, congratulations, you have the patience of a master ninja waiting on a mountain top for years), there's no real extras to make you come back for more. No multiplayer modes, no bonus goodies, nothing.
I thought the cycle of bad Spider-Man games was over since Sega and Acclaim stopped making the games with Stan Lee's main man. But I guess the folks at Activision had one more bad egg to deliver upon the public, and that's too bad. With a little more focus on the gameplay and innovation, Spider-Man 2 could've been a real swinging time on the N-Gage. As is, I'm afraid it's nothing but a squashed effort.
