What's Not
$1.99 seems like a lot for such a bare bones video game (yeah, we're cheap), you cannot tip over.

We're all over ice cream, so we downloaded Scoops faster than devouring a pint of strawberry. Much like PapiJump, this entertaining iPhone app is great for getting your video game fix in a short amount of time, except instead of jumping between platforms, you stack ice cream. While not the most sophisticated apps, the accelerometer controls make it a neat showpiece for Apple's device.

Scoops is all about stacking ice cream for points; you can also score bonuses for grouping like colors. You start with an empty cone and catch scoops of chocolate, vanilla, mint chocolate chip and other flavors as they fall from the top of the screen. Standing in your way are some nasty vegetables (onions and tomatoes, specifically) that also plummet from the sky. Pick one of those up and you lose one of three stars. Lose all your stars and the game ends.

To play, you simply tilt the iPhone left and right. Designer Ian Marsh did an excellent job making the controls responsive, and we like stacking hundreds of feet of ice cream. On the downside, you don't need to worry about keeping your balance. You can't tip over, so all you need to worry about is collecting scoops and dodging vegetables. Although it makes sense since the game's easier to play, we wish there was an option to make balancing a factor.

With a daily leaderboard, addictive gameplay and the ability to send high scores to friends via email, this is a cute and enjoyable app that's worth the $1.99 asking price. Ninety-nine cents would have been sweeter, but if you ever go bankrupt, we doubt you'll blame your financial collapse on the extra dollar you spent on Scoops.
