Cut the Rope HD iPad Review
Cut the Rope is a delightful puzzle game from Chillingo that tasks you with delivering a piece of candy to an adorable lizard named Om Nom. Each stage features the candy suspended by rope, and as the title implies, you must cut the rope so the treat falls or floats into Om Nom's mouth.
Doing this successfully, however, takes brain power and timing, because to achieve the highest score possible, you'll need to set things in motion so the candy passes through three stars carefully placed throughout each board. You can beat a stage with just one star, but come on. There's no fun in that.
Figuring out the best route to success and the touch controls make Cut the Rope entertaining. Doing something as simple as sliding a finger across the screen is immensely satisfying, especially when it results in watching the candy sway back and forth, all thanks to the game's outstanding physics.
There's also a lot of thought that goes into figuring out each puzzle's solution, and Chillingo made a great decision in letting users restart a stage any time without penalty. It just makes the experience more entertaining.
Meanwhile, the game has a clean interface with responsive touch controls, and the cartoon style graphics are bright and cheerful. We're especially fond of Om Nom's limited but smooth animation.
Bottom line, Cut the Rope is one of the best games for Apple's iOS. Play it immediately.
