Just monkeying around...
Other Ocean announced today that they were behind the Super Monkey Ball iPhone Demo showcased during the Apple's iPhone SDK event on March 6, 2008. Why they decide to let the world know about it one month later is a mystery. Better late than never, I guess.
"Apple's SDK is extremely developer-friendly and the iPhone, with its accelerometer, is the perfect platform for Super Monkey Ball," explained Gordon Wood, Other Ocean's Technical Director and Senior Programmer. "The iPhone is going to be a major player in the handheld gaming market, and we're excited to be among the first to develop games for the device."
"We knew Super Monkey Ball could be a perfect game for the iPhone, and all we needed was the right team to partner with to make it happen," said David Cobb, Sega's Vice President of Product Development. "Other Ocean was the obvious choice to build the demo version, with their experience giving us a clear advantage."
[Lance: It's probably just the Canadian in me talking, but PEI's always been that little island province tucked way out in the east that you never hear much about (sort of like how the US sees Canada as a whole). If you tried to buy beer with a fake ID in Ontario, and you had PEI on there, people would think you were shitting them. For a developer there to land a project this big seems random as all hell. They must be doing something special for Sega to go all the way to them, though.]
