Sony Launches Wi-Fine Service in Japan

Sony has just launched its Wi-Fine service that will allow consumers to download a variety of content.
The service features 900 access points across a wireless public LAN. By connecting to these access points, people can download videos, wallpapers, demos and even extras for games like Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. Downloads will be free up until June 30 when an undisclosed fee will be charged. No word on whether it will be a monthly or per connection charge.
Non-gaming content will also be available like weather and news reports, and Sony's making sure that the access points will be easily accessible by putting them in places like cafes, airports and train stations, which is especially helpful for the many Japanese who have a long daily commute.
