Go Line Rider, Go!
Genius Products announced today that they will be venturing into the video game industry. The home video distribution giant will now publish and distribute games.
"Our management expertise in the development, marketing and distribution of video games creates a tremendous growth opportunity for Genius", said Trevor Drinkwater, President and CEO of Genius Products. "As planned, this marks the beginning of our entrance into the fast growing and exciting interactive software category and the expansion of our distribution expertise in multiple entertainment based product categories."
Genius Products hopes to make quite a first impression with their first product, Line Rider. Focusing on user-created content, the game lets gamers create and share their own levels. The lines they draw will be ridden by some dude on a sled.
The new Line Rider games will feature new special lines as well as a story mode (as if the game needed one). The game is packed with more than 40 levels created by the world's #1 Lind Rider player, TechDawg.
Already with over 20 million downloads on the Internet, Line Rider hopes that going the retail route would be as successful as digital distribution. Genius Products is set to debut with Line Rider for the PC, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii in the summer.
