GDC 2008: PopCap Games to Develop for SNAP Mobile

Pop, Cap and Snap

At GDC 2008, Nokia and PopCap Games announced today that they will be bringing connected mobile Java games for Nokia's SNAP Mobile platform.

"Downloads of our mobile games continue to grow rapidly and we have learned that consumers are increasingly looking for on-the-go games that allow them to interact with one another," said Andrew Stein, Director of Mobile Business Development, PopCap. "To help meet that growing demand, we're happy to cooperate with a company like Nokia that shares our vision of bringing engaging and fun casual games to the mobile mass-market along with a proven track record of efficiently distributing and hosting connected mobile games."

The first game under the multi-game agreement between Nokia and PopCap Games will be a remake of Chuzzle. The original version of Chuzzle won Casual Game of the Year in the 2005 Billboard's Digital Entertainment & Media Excellence Awards. The remake will include multiplayer with community features including chat and leader boards.

Chuzzle for the SNAP Mobile platform will be available by the end of the year.
