Professor Layton Cracks the Retail Case

Released just yesterday, Professor Layton is an adventure game (of sorts) that we've been covering on Modojo for some time now. Created by the acclaimed Level-5 studio with the help of a Japanese professor, the game utilizes a wide variety of brain teasing puzzles and a mystery narrative to create a gaming experience that is unique to say the least. The art style also takes a detour from your usual anime conventions for a look that resembles a cross between The Adventures of Tintin and Astro Boy.
"Professor Layton and the Curious Village combines a mix of clever storyline and brainy twists," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "Like the Brain Age titles before it, this new puzzle genre requires players to use their minds as much as their thumbs. The strong story, charming hand-drawn animation and fully voiced movies appeal to hard-core gamers and casual gamers alike."
If you liked Brain Age but wanted a more cohesive "game" packaged along with the puzzles, then Professor Layton is likely just the thing you've been looking for. Downloadable content in the form of new weekly puzzles will make sure you get your money's worth as well.
