Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles Officially Announced

Jade Raymond something something...

Ubisoft officially unveiled Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The handheld title will be a direct prequel to the original best-seller.

Much of the details were leaked last week with the appearance of the game's box art. Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles will have four 3D-rendered Middle Eastern cities during the time of the Crusade. Interrogation and pick-pocketing also return with extra touch-screen sequences.

"The success of Assassin's Creed worldwide has been incredible and we're excited to delve deeper into the story and bring it to the Nintendo DS," said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles will be a title that resonates with those who played the console version as well as those who have yet to discover the secrets of Assassin's Creed."

Despite selling a ton, Assassin's Creed received a fair bit of criticism from fans and reviewers alike. In my opinion, the game was mediocre and the high sales were due the slick advertising campaign.

Hopefully, the Nintendo DS installment won't disappoint. Assassin's Creed Altair's Chronicles will be released in February for the price of MSRP $29.99.
