Digital Chocolate Acquires Studios in Spain, India

Digital Chocolate announced today that it has acquired studios Small Device Mobile Technologies and Microjocs Mobile, located in Bangalore, India, and Barcelona, Spain, respectively. In addition to generally strengthening Asian and European ties, the company noted that the studios will be leveraged to more effectively localize DChoc content.
Small Device has traditionally been known as a mobile applications porting house, and will largely continue in this capacity under DChoc's ownership. The Microjocs acquisition will boost the company's studio development output.
J"ust as the Bangalore Operations Center brings us a step closer to key regions in Asia, a strong presence in Barcelona is important to our expansion in Spanish-speaking parts of the world," Gary Schofield, president of networks of Digital Chocolate said in a statement. "With key sales executives in place - including Shrinivasa Sharma, former VP Sales for Small Device and Xavier Mas Kaupp, formerly with Gameloft - we are committed to aggressively pursuing these new markets."
In its acquisition announcement, Digital Chocolate also noted that its critically-acclaimed Helsinki, Finland development studio (formally Sumea) has grown to 328 percent since its formation in 2004.
