BREW Publisher & Developer Revenue Exceeds $1 Billion

Qualcomm announced today that the community of publishers and developers for their BREW games offerings has exceeded $1 billion in total sales revenue. The BREW platform, since its deployment in November 2001, has delivered more than five years of mobile content in 31 countries around the world.

The milestone is explained by Bob Briggs, senior vice president and general manager, BREW for QUALCOMM Internet Services, "During the past five years, we are proud to have grown the BREW solution into a global premier wireless data service, and the $1 billion earned by BREW publishers and developers is a testament to the innovation they have shown in bringing valuable, relevant wireless services to market."

The last BREW revenue update provided by Qualcomm was in June 2006, when the company announced total revenues had exceeded $700 million, which indicates that the service has continued to gain adoption.

By utilizing the Airplay mobile game development solution, BREW has allowed developers to create native 3D games for their platform and maintain their presence among current industry trends.

BREW's list of developers and publishers includes leading global companies such as EA, Eidos, Glu Mobile, SquareEnix and others.

The potential for BREW sales to continue briskly is high, particularly considering their participation in helping bring Microsoft's "Live Anywhere" service to their program. Microsoft's vision is to bring a unified setting to all of their products including mobile devices, and BREW's recent milestone suggests Microsoft was well informed.
