Yoshi's Island 2 Name Change

Plus new details

The Nintendo DS sequel to what many proclaim the greatest platform video game ever has recevied a change of title. Yes, the aptly named Yoshi's Island 2 will henceforth be known as Yoshi's Island DS. Earth shattering news, am I right? Well fortunately a number of new gameplay details have also been revelead in conjunction with the name change announcement.

So one day a mysterious floating castle appears over Yoshi's Island, and a bunch of kids start disappearing. Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Baby Wario, and Baby DK all manage to avoid being kidnapped, but unfortunately for Baby Luigi he's been captured once again by Kamek. That guy just can't catch a break, can he? But anyway, it's up to Yoshi and the four toddlers to set things right and figure out what the deal is with the whole ominous hovering castle.

As you might expect, the addition of the new babies brings about new abilities for Yoshi to make use of. While they cling to his back, Baby Mario gives Yoshi speed, Baby DK gives him strength, Baby Peach gives him the ability to fly, and Baby Wario gives him magnetism.

Of course all of Yoshi's regular abilities from the first game will return, like eating enemies and spitting them out, turning them into eggs to be thrown, ground pounding, flutter jumping, and morphing into vechicles.

Yoshi's Island DS is still enroute for a November 15 release, so be sure to check back with us for a full review when it drops.
