Castlevania DS Title Revision

Plus a set release date for Japan

Konami's upcoming Castlevania Portrait of Ruin for the DS received a name change today, from here on to be known as Akumajo Dracula: Gallery of Labyrinth. Of course Akumajo Dracula is the series' commonly known name in Japan, but the new subtitle does come as somewhat of a surprise.

Portrait of Ruin devised its name from the various portraits found throughout Dracula's castle, which serves as the game's hub. Upon finding a new portrait, players would enter through it and find themselves transported to a new area as depicted in the painting.

Whether or not the name revision suggests a change of some kind with this system remains to be seen, but when you think about it, a Gallery of Labyrinth isn't really that much of a difference in meaning. You know, there are paintings in a gallery, same deal.

In either case, the game has also received an official release date for Japan. Set to debut on November 16, there is still no word on a North American release, but you can be pretty sure we'll see it sooner or later thereafter.
