First Look: Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation

Atlus hits the GBA with a fist full of RPG

Developed in Japan by Banpresto, Atlus announced back in March that it would be bringing both Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation and its sequel to North America later this year, and we managed to catch our first look of the two GBA titles during our time at E3 just over a week ago.

The story tells of Earth well beyond the 21st century, where mankind has advanced into a new Space Era. Human technological progress is put to a halt when two meteors suddenly strike the Earth, causing incredible devastation and turmoil.

Years later, a mysterious third meteor lands in the South Pacific, containing unknown alien technologies. Fearing that the creators of these devices would one day come to reclaim their technology, the Earth Federal Government began the development of humanoid mobile units, called Personal Troopers, to watch the skies for an invasion from beyond.

A strategy RPG boasting 40+ hours of gameplay, players will take control of rookie pilots put in charge of helming the Earth's giant mecha guardians. Standard RPG-style progression will ensue, as pilots gain skills and abilities from successful kills, turning the once-rookies into aces.

Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation for the GBA is scheduled for release this summer, with Original Generation 2 expected to follow sometime later in the fall. Be sure to check back for a full review of each title when they hit the stands.
