Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Reaches 1M Users

An impressive goal for the Big N's handheld

Nintendo made the official announcement today that its Wi-Fi Connection service has reached a record high of 1 million unique users around the globe. In operation for less than four months, the service allows Nintendo DS owners to log onto a cost-free online network and play with other users all over the world.

Currently the only titles in North America to make use of the online functionality are Nintendo's Animal Crossing Wild World, and Mario Kart DS, along with Activision's Tony Hawk's American Sk8land. However, players can look forward to two new online titles from Nintendo which are scheduled to ship on the same day in just over a week; Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris DS.

So how high will the number of users climb before Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection reaches its peak? It's certainly hard to say right now, but with continually rising numbers and popularity that the service has seemed to enjoy in just four short months, it's probably safe to say that it's no where near its highest attainable spot quite yet.
