Featuring classic Nintendo themes
Nintendo revealed today that forthcoming Nintendo DS title, Tetris DS, will feature online support, allowing players to compete in two- or four-player battles via Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection.
Six different modes of play will be available in the game, combining themes of the original classic with a variety of new gameplay features that will make use of the Nintendo DS's unique capabilities. Each mode will have a theme based on classic Nintendo game franchises, like Metroid, Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. While the traditional falling-blocks and line-clearing strategies remain intact, the system's touch screen will allow for a new level of interactivity.
The gameplay modes range from classic single player Tetris, to special Tetris puzzles, along with a host of multiplayer options such as the aforementioned online play, head-to-head battles, and massive wireless competitions between 10 DS users which will require only one game card.
Tetris DS is currently scheduled for a March 20 release.
