Metal Gear Acid Ships for the PSP

Snake slithers his way on to the PSP.

Coinciding with Sony's North American launch of the PSP (available for purchase in stores tomorrow), Konami has announced they have shipped their turn-based strategy game, Metal Gear Acid. Metal Gear Acid features the infamous government agent Snake as he takes down global threats. The game takes a different approach to the Metal Gear series, utilizing Snake's stealth actions and offensive attacks in the form of card-based gameplay.

Konami Digital Entertainment of America's Jason Enos expressed his satisfaction with the game: "Creating a Metal Gear game for the PSP handheld system has allowed us to expand the franchise into a new direction. By making MGA a turn-based game, we were able to concentrate on the series' crucial elements - stealth and strategy - and make an entirely original experience that is accessible to gamers on the move."

Different cards are available for purchase throughout the game, allowing Snake (and a second playable character, Teliko Friedman) over 200 special abilities. Metal Gear Acid also makes use of the PSP's wireless capabilities, allowing up to two players to compete head-to-head or cooperatively.

Metal Gear Acid is priced at $39.99 and should be available in most stores nation-wide.
