The first original Zelda title for the Game Boy Advance proves that Nintendo's magic is well and alive.
Read the Modojo ReviewThe craziest thing about The Minish Cap is that this is a PORTABLE game -something this good would be a revelation on a home console, but to have it wherever you go is something special indeed. Some of the game's little side-quests, like Kinstone fusing and figurine collecting, are more fun by themselves than some of the other titles on the GBA. While the 3D Zelda's have been terrific for the most part, my heart will always belong to the 2D Legend -and The Minish Cap brought me back to those glory days from beginning to end. A must-own title for any GBA owner, and my first perfect-5 rating in a long, long time.
I really liked the game a ot when I first got it, but it started to drag on and on trying to find who has the other stone piece.. Then I shelved it for a few months and when I came back to it I could not remember much of anything. It really could have used a "Shenmue" type of journal. But that's just my opinion, I may be wrong.
It is much like the other Zeldas from Capcom, close, but no Link's Awakening.
Being a die hard Zelda fan I've come to expect that when I'm finished with the game that I come away not with just the idea that I beat another game, but that I experienced something truely emotional and deep. To me the Minish Cap didn't provide that fufillment. It's to date the only Zelda game I've yet to feel the need to go back and collect everything and explore all of what the game has to offer. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but no where near the Zelda status we've come to know and love.
If you want a truely amazing portable Zelda experience look into Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, or Oracle of Seasons - not this.
I love every minute of this game. I'm so proud of myself for actually finishing it. It's your typical Zelda adventure game. Not sure why it took so long to get a new adventure onto the GBA, but it was totally worth the wait.
If you could own only one GBA title, I'd say make it Zelda: Minish Cap. It's so uniformally kick-ass, I just can't figure out how they managed to squeeze so much awesome into one tiny portable game.
