...Continued From Page 8 Over the course of the 11-year lifespan of the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, we saw a diverse range of Mario-related titles, including many that weren't even platformers. There were also the Wario Land titles which were played with a different style to the Mario Lands, but were subtitled as being part of the Super Mario Land lineage. Wario has enough games to his own name though, so we'll look into his story in due course.
You could say that Nintendo is guilty of overusing its main character franchises, using them to hype up games that may have otherwise been just plain titles. Even if this is true though, there is really no harm in using him to bring other games to the masses. The original Game Boy and the Game Boy Color were milestones in portable entertainment, and the games that accompanied them have become legends themselves. Its hard to believe that so many years have passed since then, but the pleasant surprise is that these games play today every bit as well as they did when they were new. So if any of these titles have aroused your interest, get out there and find them!
