Turbo Express: A Loving Tribute

Oh Turbo Express... your batteries lasted a just a couple hours and your library wasn't all that great, but we loved you anyway. A tribute, to this most classic "portable" system!
...Continued From Page 3 Devil's Crush

This pinball game is so damn good that it's yet...YET...to be surpassed. Basically, it's just your regular game of pinball except the game is chock full of demons, twisted imagery, and bonus challenges that task you to destroy wave after wave of monsters with the pinball. This is basically what Sega used as inspiration to craft its Pinball of the Dead. I'm sure of it.
Ninja Spirit

A standard hack and slash side scrolling adventure, except you're this bad ass ninja that can harness magic to do his bidding. There's a cool power up that enables you to form up to two clones, making for three homicidal ninjas at once.
Blazing Lazers
If the TurboGrafx-16/Turbo Express is known for anything it's all of the fantastic space shooters, chief among them Blazing Lazers,. This fast-paced blast fest has non stop action and plenty of great music. Plus, a voice announces each power up that you run into, and back then, voices in games were sweet, even if they did sound like ass.
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones

This one gets a lot of criticism and for good reason. It was a terrible game to bundle with the TG16 console, but despite it not being as cool as Mario or Sonic, I have some love for Keith Courage. Being able to hack away at monsters and then transform into this cool looking mech is pretty sweet. It's simplistic, but it doesn't deserve excessive amounts of hate.
R-Type
The classic shooter found a home on the Turbo Express, and this port is actually pretty damn good. It's maddeningly difficult too! Grrr...
Alien's Crush

Much like Keith Courage, Alien Crush is oftentimes hated on but it's still pretty cool. It's basically Devil's Crush but with a spacey theme, and it somewhat borrows from the film, Alien. A solid pick up.
Splatterhouse

Oh hellz yeah! Namco's Splatterhouse rocks the Turbo Express hardcore. It's a side scroller in which you play this hockey mask wearing psycho that must wade through legions of ugly monsters which go splat whenever you hit them, either with your fists, or with one of the game's weapons. It eventually spawned two sequels, but they were only available on Genesis.
Neutopia

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then I hope Nintendo's smiling because Neutopia is essentially a straight up Zelda clone. But it's a good one, so that makes it all right in my book. Visit people, enter dungeons, kill monsters. It's an aged formula, but since it's done right, Neutopia is still enjoyable to play.
Bonk's Adventure

How could I not mention this one? While Bonk was never as popular as other videogame mascots, his games were and are still immensely entertaining. These simple platformers challenge you to explore prehistoric environments and use your enormous head to pound dinosaurs into oblivion. It's cute, fun, and definitely worth owning.
