Longtail's Battle Rapper Spits Loud and Hard on Wireless Carriers

"Who're the five best rappers of all time?"

Outside of the Beatmania series, surprisingly few rhythm games have really tried to tackle the hip hop genre, favoring mostly electronica and even rock recently instead.

Longtail's made the plunge with Battle Rapper: a rhythm-based game that covers rap music all the way from hardcore to crunk and even nerdcore. Featuring lyrics by New York rapper Bekay, the game allows players to battle each other and the AI in one-on-one, co-op and group battle scenarios.

I'm surprised someone didn't tackle the rap battle genre earlier with its resurgence in popular culture thanks to things like Eminem's 8 Mile and 106 & Park's Freestyle Friday.

"With Battle Rapper we tapped into one of the most popular and exciting musical genres," said Jason Altman, Head of Production, Longtail Studios. "We wanted to make a great original game that allowed the player to not only be involved in the music and lyrics, but to experience the battle rap scene."

"Battle Rapper lets players experience the underground hip hop world from the inside out" added Jarred Weisfeld, creative consultant to the game and Manager of former Wu-Tang Clan Member ODB.

Battle Rapper is available on leading wireless carriers worldwide. Check your local carrier for availability.
