Eidos Self-Publishing Tomb Raider in US

Eidos Interactive announced today that it has begun establishing carrier and MVNO relationships in the US market, in order to self-publish Eidos Mobile's titles. The first title slated for release is Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend, due out in August.

"Eidos is planning to take their core brands to mobile over the coming months and the new releases promise to bring exciting gameplay onto user's handsets," Dave Clark, Vice President, New Business Development at Eidos said in a statement.

Eidos has long had a mobile division in the UK, and has built up a modest library of console brand extensions and original mobile IP. These titles either went unpublished in the US, or were brought over by other publishers, most notably In-Fusio, which published the previous Tomb Raider mobile trilogy.

Tomb Raider: Legend is a mobile adoption of the 2006 surprise console hit of the same name. The game returned the series to its roots, with an emphasis on exploration, puzzle-solving, and death-defying leaps. Eidos Mobile promises that the mobile iteration's level design and control setup "are designed from the ground up for the mobile medium."
