Glu and Codemasters Announce Publishing Partnership

Glu Mobile announced at 3GSM this week that it has acquired the exclusive global publishing rights for UK videogame house Codemasters' upcoming wireless line-up. This partnership represents a significant expansion of the two company's the relationship, which initially involved Glu publishing just the mobile edition of Brian Lara International Cricket 2007.
Titles specifically singled out as headed to the mobile medium include Colin McRae Rally, Operation Flashpoint, TOCA Race Driver, LMA Manager. Codemasters stable of IP also includes titles such as Maelstrom, Heatseeker, and Clive Barker's Jericho among others. It seems likely that the company will bring more of its titles to the mobile medium in the future. The first mobile game covered under the new agreement will be the football management sim LMA Manager 2008.
"As part of Codemasters strategic drive across all platforms of digital entertainment, Glu's momentum in the market was key for us in creating this alliance," Director of Codemasters Mobile Matt Davies said in a statement. "Codemasters The affiliation will deliver Codemasters brands with a proven sales and distribution network that will leverage our content to the growing wireless consumer base. As technology advances, Codemasters will focus its development expertise in embracing wireless as the functionality between formats to add to the overall gaming experience."
Glu has published mobile versions a variety of other popular console and PC releases, including Project Gotham Racing and DRIV3R. In most previous instances Glu was also responsible for development duties. It is unclear whether Glu will also be developing Codemasters' mobile slate, or whether it is handling distribution duties only.
